وَمَا أَرْسَلْنَا مِنْ قَبْلِكَ إِلَّا رِجَالًا نُوحِي إِلَيْهِمْ مِنْ أَهْلِ الْقُرَىٰ ۗ أَفَلَمْ يَسِيرُوا فِي الْأَرْضِ فَيَنْظُرُوا كَيْفَ كَانَ عَاقِبَةُ الَّذِينَ مِنْ قَبْلِهِمْ ۗ وَلَدَارُ الْآخِرَةِ خَيْرٌ لِلَّذِينَ اتَّقَوْا ۗ أَفَلَا تَعْقِلُونَ

A ò rán ẹnì kan ní iṣẹ́-òjíṣẹ́ ṣíwájú rẹ àfi àwọn ọkùnrin tí À ń fi ìmísí ránṣẹ́ sí nínú àwọn ará ìlú. Ṣé wọn kò rìn kiri lórí ilẹ̀ kí wọ́n wo bí ìkángun àwọn t’ó ṣíwájú wọn ṣe rí? Dájúdájú Ilé ìkẹ́yìn lóore jùlọ fún àwọn t’ó bẹ̀rù (Allāhu). Ṣé ẹ ò ṣe làákàyè ni?

Lóde òní yìí, à ń rí àwọn obìnrin kan tí wọ́n ń sọra wọn di aṣíwájú ẹlẹ́sìn nínú ìjọ ’Islām àti nínú ìjọ Kristiẹniti. Wọ́n sì ń sọ pé Ọlọ́hun l’Ó fi iṣẹ́ ẹ̀sìn rán àwọn níṣẹ́. Wọ́n ń sọra wọn di ànábì Ọlọ́hun àti òjíṣẹ́ Rẹ̀. Āyah yìí ti já wọn nírọ́. Allāhu (subhānahu wa ta'ālā) ti fi rinlẹ̀ pé, Òun kò fi iṣẹ́ ìmísí rán obìnrin kan kan rí. Ẹ jìnnà sí irú àwọn obìnrin abẹ̀sìnjẹ́ náà. Kíyè sí i! Bí Allāhu (subhānahu wa ta'ālā) ṣe ṣa Mọryam, ìyá Ànábì ‘Īsā lẹ́ṣà tó, kò fi iṣẹ́ ìmísí rán an sí ẹnikẹ́ni.

Kò sí tafsír ní èdè rẹ. Èyí ni Al-Mukhtasar ní èdè Gẹ̀ẹ́sì.

109. Allah only sent men, not angels, before the Messenger (peace be upon him), whom He gave revelation as He does to the Messenger, and they were from the people of the towns and not the desert. Their peoples denied them and Allah destroyed them. Do those who deny the Messenger not travel through the earth and think about what the end was of those who denied the truth before them, learning from their example? The bliss in the home of the Afterlife is better for those who are Mindful in this world. Do they not realise that is better, and so become mindful of Allah by following what He instructs (with faith being the most important instruction) and staying away from what He has prohibited (with not associating others with Allah being the most important prohibition)?
