Al-Baqarah · 2:76
وَإِذَا لَقُوا الَّذِينَ آمَنُوا قَالُوا آمَنَّا وَإِذَا خَلَا بَعْضُهُمْ إِلَىٰ بَعْضٍ قَالُوا أَتُحَدِّثُونَهُمْ بِمَا فَتَحَ اللَّهُ عَلَيْكُمْ لِيُحَاجُّوكُمْ بِهِ عِنْدَ رَبِّكُمْ ۚ أَفَلَا تَعْقِلُونَ
När de möter dem som har antagit tron, säger de: "Vi är [också] troende." Men när de är ensamma säger några [av dem till de andra]: "Talar ni om för dem vad Gud har uppenbarat för er, så att de kan utnyttja det som argument [mot er], när ni tvistar med dem inför er Herre? Hur använder ni ert förstånd?"

76. An instance of their inconsistencies and deviousness occurred when some of them met some believers and acknowledged the truth of the Prophet Muhammad (peace be upon him), and the correctness of his message, as the Torah witnessed to it. But when they were alone with one another they blamed each other because of these acknowledgments, saying that the Muslims might use them as proof that they recognised the truth of Muhammad’s prophethood.
