The fasting verse · Al-Baqarah 2:183
يَا أَيُّهَا الَّذِينَ آمَنُوا كُتِبَ عَلَيْكُمُ الصِّيَامُ كَمَا كُتِبَ عَلَى الَّذِينَ مِنْ قَبْلِكُمْ لَعَلَّكُمْ تَتَّقُونَ
O ju që besuat, agjërimi (saum ) u është bërë obligim sikurse që ishte obligim edhe i atyre që ishin para jush, kështu që të bëheni të devotshëm.

183. O you who have faith in Allah and follow His Prophet, Allah has ordered you to fast, as He ordered those before you, so that you may become mindful of Allah, protecting yourself from His punishment by doing good actions – fasting being one of the best of these.
