Al-Isra · 17:16
وَإِذَا أَرَدْنَا أَنْ نُهْلِكَ قَرْيَةً أَمَرْنَا مُتْرَفِيهَا فَفَسَقُوا فِيهَا فَحَقَّ عَلَيْهَا الْقَوْلُ فَدَمَّرْنَاهَا تَدْمِيرًا
E, quando desejamos aniquilar uma cidade, ordenamos, primeiro, obediência a seus opulentos habitantes. Mas, ao contrário, eles cometem nela perversidade. Então, o Dito cumpre-se contra ela. E profligamo-la, inteiramente.

16. When I decided to destroy a town because of its wrongdoing, I instructed those who became reckless because of affluence, to obey Allah but they did not comply. And instead they disobeyed Him and transgressed, so the word of the decimating punishment became justified against them and I destroyed them completely.
