قَالَ إِنِّي أُرِيدُ أَنْ أُنْكِحَكَ إِحْدَى ابْنَتَيَّ هَاتَيْنِ عَلَىٰ أَنْ تَأْجُرَنِي ثَمَانِيَ حِجَجٍ ۖ فَإِنْ أَتْمَمْتَ عَشْرًا فَمِنْ عِنْدِكَ ۖ وَمَا أُرِيدُ أَنْ أَشُقَّ عَلَيْكَ ۚ سَتَجِدُنِي إِنْ شَاءَ اللَّهُ مِنَ الصَّالِحِينَ
[Inni] ni jedhe: “Ani tokkoo shamarree koo kana lamaanii woggaa saddeet na tajaajiluu kee irratti sitti heerumsiisuun fedhaKudhan yoo guuttes [sun tola] si biraa ta’e; sirratti jabeessuu hin fedhuYoo Rabbiin fedhe gaggaarii irraa ta’uu na arguuf jirta.”

Afaan keessanitti tafsiirni hin jiru. Kun Al-Mukhtasar Afaan Ingiliffaati.
27. Addressing Moses, their father said, “Indeed, I wish to marry you to one of these two daughters of mine, on the condition that their dowry is your shepherding our livestock for eight years. If you extend the period to ten years, it would be a favour on your part and not obligatory upon you, because the agreement is only for eight years, so whatever exceeds that is optional. I do not wish to impose upon you anything that would put you in difficulty; Allah-willing, you will find me one of the pious ones who fulfils their promises and doesnot break their agreements.”
