Al-Isra · 17:16
وَإِذَا أَرَدْنَا أَنْ نُهْلِكَ قَرْيَةً أَمَرْنَا مُتْرَفِيهَا فَفَسَقُوا فِيهَا فَحَقَّ عَلَيْهَا الْقَوْلُ فَدَمَّرْنَاهَا تَدْمِيرًا
En als wij besloten hadden eene stad te verwoesten, gelastten wij hare in overvloed levende inwoners, onzen gezant te gelooven; maar zij handelden misdadig; daarom werd dat vonnis tegen die stad rechtvaardig uitgesproken en wij verdelgden haar.

16. When I decided to destroy a town because of its wrongdoing, I instructed those who became reckless because of affluence, to obey Allah but they did not comply. And instead they disobeyed Him and transgressed, so the word of the decimating punishment became justified against them and I destroyed them completely.
