Al-An'am · 6:124
وَإِذَا جَاءَتْهُمْ آيَةٌ قَالُوا لَنْ نُؤْمِنَ حَتَّىٰ نُؤْتَىٰ مِثْلَ مَا أُوتِيَ رُسُلُ اللَّهِ ۘ اللَّهُ أَعْلَمُ حَيْثُ يَجْعَلُ رِسَالَتَهُ ۗ سَيُصِيبُ الَّذِينَ أَجْرَمُوا صَغَارٌ عِنْدَ اللَّهِ وَعَذَابٌ شَدِيدٌ بِمَا كَانُوا يَمْكُرُونَ
Dan apabila datang kepada mereka sesuatu keterangan, mereka berkata: "Kami tidak akan beriman sehingga kami juga diberi (wahyu) sama seperti yang telah diberikan kepada pesuruh-pesuruh Allah". Allah lebih mengetahui di mana (dan kepada siapakah yang sepatutnya) Ia berikan jawatan Rasul (dan wahyu) yang diberikanNya itu. Orang-orang yang melakukan perbuatan yang salah itu akan ditimpa kehinaan di sisi Allah, dan azab seksa yang amat berat, disebabkan perbuatan tipu daya yang mereka lakukan.

124. And when there comes to any of these leaders a verse or a sign which Allah reveals to His Prophet proving his truthfulness, they say: We will never accept this until Allah bestows upon us the Prophethood as He did to those Prophets aforetime. Allah refutes them by saying that He knows best who is most suitable to be appointed to carry out the duties of the mission and He only selects the finest people for prophethood and messengership. These transgressors will be afflicted with disgrace and humiliation because of their arrogance against the truth, and with a severe punishment because of their scheming.
