وَقَالَ مُوسَىٰ رَبَّنَا إِنَّكَ آتَيْتَ فِرْعَوْنَ وَمَلَأَهُ زِينَةً وَأَمْوَالًا فِي الْحَيَاةِ الدُّنْيَا رَبَّنَا لِيُضِلُّوا عَنْ سَبِيلِكَ ۖ رَبَّنَا اطْمِسْ عَلَىٰ أَمْوَالِهِمْ وَاشْدُدْ عَلَىٰ قُلُوبِهِمْ فَلَا يُؤْمِنُوا حَتَّىٰ يَرَوُا الْعَذَابَ الْأَلِيمَ
८८. आणि मूसा यांनी दुआ- प्रार्थना केली, हे माझ्या पालनहार! तू, फिरऔन आणि त्याच्या सरदारांना शोभा सजावट आणि सर्व प्रकारची धन-दौलत या जगाच्या जीवनात प्रदान केली. हे आमच्या पालनकर्त्या! (अशासाठी प्रदान केली) की त्यांनी तुझ्या मार्गापासून आम्हाला दूर करावे. हे आमच्या पालनकर्त्या! त्यांच्या धन-दौलतीला उद्‌ध्वस्त करून टाक आणि त्यांच्या हृदयांना सक्त (कठोर) बनव, यासाठी की त्यांना ईमान राखणे अशक्य व्हावे, येथपर्यंत की त्यांनी दुःखदायक अज़ाब (शिक्षा-यातना) पाहून घ्यावी.

88. Moses (peace be upon him) said: O our Lord, You have given Pharaoh and the nobles from his people the glitz and glamour of this world. You have also given them wealth in this worldly life; but they were not grateful to You for what You gave them. Instead, they used that to mislead others from Your path. O our Lord, utterly destroy their wealth. Make their hearts hard so that they do not believe, unless they see the painful punishment at a time when their belief will be of no benefit to them.
