فَلَمَّا وَضَعَتْهَا قَالَتْ رَبِّ إِنِّي وَضَعْتُهَا أُنْثَىٰ وَاللَّهُ أَعْلَمُ بِمَا وَضَعَتْ وَلَيْسَ الذَّكَرُ كَالْأُنْثَىٰ ۖ وَإِنِّي سَمَّيْتُهَا مَرْيَمَ وَإِنِّي أُعِيذُهَا بِكَ وَذُرِّيَّتَهَا مِنَ الشَّيْطَانِ الرَّجِيمِ
જ્યારે બાળકીને જનમ આપ્યો તો કહેવા લાગી કે પાલનહાર ! મને તો બાળકી થઇ, અલ્લાહ તઆલા ખુબ સારી રીતે જાણે છે કે કોણ જન્મયું છે અને બાળક-બાળકી સમાન નથી, મેં તેનું નામ મરયમ રાખ્યું, હું તેને અને તેના સંતાનને ધુતકારેલા શેતાનથી તારા શરણમાં આપુ છું.
તફસીર

36. When she reached the end of her pregnancy and gave birth she was astonished – as she had hoped for a boy – and she said, ‘O Lord, I have given birth to a girl’. Allah knows what she gave birth to. Of course, a girl does not have the same strength and form as a boy that she had hoped for. She said, ‘I have named her Mary and I ask for Your mercy in protecting her and her children from the rejected Satan’.
